HIIT is the acronym for High Intensity Interval Training, which translates to high intensity interval training. Much has been studied and researched in recent years on how the body adapts to this type of stimuli and how to use it in the best way to improve performance. What is HIIT training? It would be what has traditionally been known as interval training. The difference is that HIIT covers only mid and short intervals, with a maximum duration of 5 ’each repetition. The fundamental concept of HIIT is the use of stimuli of intensity greater than the anaerobic threshold or VT2 (second ventilatory threshold), in order to activate the proteins responsible for adaptation to resistance exercise. Gibala, one of the main HIIT scholars, defines it as "physical exercise characterized by short, intermittent series of vigorous activity, interspersed with rest periods or low-intensity exercises."
